    Wonderful way to build up nitrogen in the soil. The secret is legumes.



    I also like the idea of swales to help increase crops on sloped landscapes. They act like dams, and push water under the soil. I also like some of the techniques that other permaculture experts have suggested, including using animals such as chickens, to help fertilize the soil.

    This is by far the best way of growing food or anything for that matter. With the water crisis we are and will continue to behaving in future, we really need to start integrating these ideas in our every day lives.
    The best television show I have seen so far that teaches about life and food has got to be River Cottage...

    For those who are not familiar....this is the youtube channel obviously but if you have the ability to download any of the shows I highly recommend it.
    The Australia series is my favorite personally.
